Permanent Residence :

To relocate and live in Bulgaria indefinitely, you will need to apply for the long-term permit also known as the D visa. The application is done at the Bulgarian Consulate in your country or at the Bulgarian Immigration offices in case you are already living in Bulgaria, holding the short stay visa. It is instructive to note that the long-stay visa is what will enable you to apply for the permanent residence permit.

Among the most important checks that you will have to pass, failure to which may lead to revocation of your application is the security check. With the rising cases of insecurity in many parts of the world, unless you have a clean criminal record, your application for permanent residence will not be approved. Another important requirement is a healthcare cover.

During your stay in Bulgaria, you will be required to prove that you have a health insurance cover to cater for every health-related expenses. These details should be provided during the application. You will not have any period of being a resident if you are a child born of a Bulgarian citizen or a permanent resident, or if you are willing to invest more than USD 250,000 in Bulgaria.

Work permits :

Are you planning to work in Bulgaria? If yes, you will need a work permit. You should have your work permit processed before you leave your country of origin. According to the immigration policies in Bulgaria, you will not have your work permit application processed while you are in Bulgaria.
