Interested in education abroad or settling abroad?

Let's have a brief overview of what you need to do.

One of the first steps is to take a standardized Language Test.

What is a standardized test?

A standardized test is a test whose scores can be compared with the scores of other candidates, despite time and place differences.

Let me explain it a bit.

Suppose you take CAT in India. Your scores are valid for only one year and your scores can be compared with scores of those students who take the test during the same period. This is a non-standardized test.

A standardized test, on the other hand, is a kind of test whose scores can be compared to the scores of other candidates, though they have taken tests in different places and at different times. This kind of test is called a standardized test, which has specific validity period.

You may need to take the tests in the following way.

Who should take a standardized test? Which test should be taken?

  • A. If you want to study in a country where native language is English, you need to take a language proficiency test, such as TOEFL, IELTS (Academic) or PTE (Academic).

Most of the colleges and universities with good standards require you to take one of the above tests. For countries, such as Canada & Germany only take IELTS whereas remaining most of the countries like Australia, UK, USA ...etc accept any IELTS, PTE or TOEFL is enough to apply and join the universities.

However, some universities, especially those in US, require both GRE and TOEFL/ IELTS.
  • B. If you want to emigrate to a country which requires English proficiency Test, you need to take IELTS-GEN or PTE -GEN.
  • C. If you want to do your MS or MBA, you need to take an additional standardized test, besides language proficiency. You need to take GRE, for MS programs in US or abroad. If you want to study MBA, you need to take GMAT.
